Born in Kanagawa, Japan. Mayumi Yamada worked as a car designer (color and trim) at Mazda in 1980s. Inspired by her five years of living in the UK, she creates sophisticated yet enjoyable and practical designs, drawing inspiration from British culture. Her hobbies include collecting antiques.

At the age of 28, he started his own bicycle parts import company specializing in European products in a corner of his family's flower shop. At 35, he established the Hayama Bicycle Market, focusing on the assembly of vintage bicycles.
